Local Attractions on Rarotonga Island
The long stretch of white sands of Tu Meke Beach is a short five minute walk along Kauare Road. Tu Mere has park benches and a public toilet and the lagoon is one of the best spots on Rarotonga for swimming and snorkelling.
Takitumu Nature Reserve is also a short walk from the accommodation, an excellent spot for birdwatching and enjoying mountain scenery along the inland trails. Takitumu Beach (5 minutes by moped) extends east from the lodge along with the Maire Nui Gardens and Cafe; whilst the tourist hub of Muri Beach (10 minutes by moped) is a little further north along the coastal road with it's shops, restaurants and night market. The round-island public bus stop at the end of the Kauare Road for guests those guests wanting to explore the island without hiring a car or moped.
Several restaurants and local grocery stores can be found along the main road, walking distance from the lodge and guests can walk to the Titikaveka CICC to enjoy the beautiful melodies of a Sunday church service.
